A 2 hours bus ride will take you to Weimar in Thuringia, a leading cultural centre, where the spirit of German classicism still thrives, along with the spirit of both the Weimar Republic and the Bauhaus era. Prominent figures from history such as Cranach, Bach, Goethe, Schiller, Coudray, Nietzsche, Liszt, Kessler and Feininger all once lived and worked in Weimar and contributed to its unique aura. You will first visit the residence of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a magnificent example of interior design in the European Classicist style (from around 1800) belonging to the list of the UNESCO-world heritage sites. After lunch an English speaking tourist guide will lead you to historic buildings commemorating the great historic figures of German literature, music and paintings as well as through the picturesque and unique Park on the Ilm that features both classical and post-classical traits since Goethe has been so closely involved in the layout of this landscape park.
